Possible legal precedent for defense

Around late '92 or early '93, two gentlemen named Aaron Anderson and Roger Christie, hemp advocates on the Big Island of Hawai'i, were "busted" for importing sterile hemp seed, sold as birdseed. I don't know what the final outcome was, but they're not in jail... There may be some legal precedent in the case records for clearing up this current mess. The paper trail would start in Hawai'i county or state court records, most likely late 1992 as Anderson was running for public office and Fall '92 was election time (the bust also busted his campaign). I don't have any further details.
